Under Minnesota state law, the sale of packaged alcoholic beverages is prohibited on Sunday. Packaged alcoholic beverages may be sold between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

However, the following exceptions apply:

Thanksgiving. The sale of packaged alcoholic beverages is prohibited on Thanksgiving Day.

Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, packaged alcoholic beverages may only be sold until 8:00 p.m.

Christmas. The sale of packaged alcoholic beverages is prohibited on Christmas Day.

On-premises service of liquor is prohibited on Sunday. Liquor may be served between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday.

Beer (up to 4% alcohol by volume) may be served between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, and between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday.

However, the following exceptions apply:

Extended Hours. Businesses may not serve alcoholic beverages later than 1:00 a.m. without first obtaining an extended hours permit. (The table above reflects the hours of sale that apply to businesses that have obtained this permit.)
