Alcohol laws in Michigan

This page reflects the default hours of sale in Michigan. Although Michigan law does not leave a lot of room for local variation, the laws in effect in Commerce Township may differ from what is shown here.

Under Michigan state law, packaged alcoholic beverages may be sold between 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m., any day of the week.

However, the following exceptions apply:

Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, packaged alcoholic beverages may only be sold until 11:59 p.m.

Christmas. On Christmas Day, packaged alcoholic beverages may not be sold before noon.

Alcoholic beverages may be served in bars and restaurants between 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m., any day of the week.

However, the following exceptions apply:

New Year's Eve. On New Year's Eve, alcoholic beverages may be served until 4:00 a.m.

Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, alcoholic beverages may only be served until 9:30 p.m.

Christmas. On-premises service of alcoholic beverages is prohibited on Christmas Day.
